SUMMARY:Sri Lanka and the Civil War: "The Best Bet in Asia"
DESCRIPTION:Join Maria Ritzema\, PhD\, professor of history at COD\, for a
look at the historical factors that shaped Sri Lanka’s transition from
British rule to independence—and eventually led to nearly 30 years of
civil war. The presentation explores tensions between the country’s
Sinhalese and Tamil communities and provides context for Brotherless Night
 by V.V. Ganeshananthan.
