The Roots of DuPage County’s Latinx Community

Sara Phalen, Director of the West Chicago City Museum, will discuss the migration of Mexican and other Latinx groups to DuPage County over the past century. Hear about the industry and opportunity that brought migrants to our area and the contributions they have made in helping shape the economies and culture of DuPage. Co-sponsored by the Addison Historical Society.

Bio:

Sara Phalen is the Director/Curator of the West Chicago Museum and the Warrenville Historical Museum & Art Gallery. She has worked in small museums for over 20 years and has a passion for sharing local history and the wonderful connections it can make between people. She serves at the President of the Kane DuPage Regional Museum Association and the Vice President of the Illinois Association of Museums. She served as the Board Chair for the Mexican Cultural Center DuPage for six years and co-curated Alebrijes: Creatures of a Dream World in 2022. She was recently appointed to the Illinois250 State Commission.
